Student mail services
Receiving mail and packages in residence halls
Fall and spring semesters: Monday through Saturday, except for United States Postal Service (USPS) holidays
Semester break, spring break, and summer: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Give family and friends your correct address.
Use the following format:Student name
Hall name and room number
PO Box 1700
Pullman WA 99163-1700
Do not use Washington State University as part of your address. The mail piece could be routed into the academic mail stream and delay delivery.
Use the 99163 zip code. It is the general zip code for Pullman. The 99164 zip code is reserved for WSU academic and administrative mail.
Stephenson and McEachern Hall residents: include the directional designator of your hall, e.g. Stephenson S. or McEachern E.
With USPS shipments, use your PO Box—not the street address. When mailing or shipping through the U.S. Postal Service, using the street address will delay delivery or result in returned mail.
Use the name that’s on your housing contract. Using a name other than the one on your Housing and Residence Life contract will delay delivery or result in returned mail.
If you receive a package with a tracking number or one too large to fit in your mailbox, you’ll get an email in your WSU email account. You can claim the item at your residence hall front desk by providing the package ID number in your email notification. You will also need to show your photo ID and sign to receive the package.
Sending mail from residence halls
Each residence hall has a drop box for outgoing campus or USPS mail. Outgoing mail is picked up on weekdays only, except on USPS holidays. Pickups are once a day, between noon and 4:00 p.m.
FedEx and UPS packages are not picked up in the residence halls.
FedEx packages can be mailed at CougPrints Plus on the ground floor of the CUB.
UPS packages can be mailed at the UPS Customer Care Center at 615 N. Grand Avenue in Pullman.
Be sure to use enough postage and include a return address. Need help addressing your letter or postcard correctly? Follow USPS guidelines. Packaging supplies can be purchased at CougPrints Plus on the ground floor of the CUB.
Use postage-free interdepartmental envelopes to send mail to academic or administrative offices on the Everett, Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver campuses. Envelopes are available from residence hall staff.
Clearly identify the following:
- Addressee’s name
- Department name or 4-digit delivery code
- Campus name (Everett, Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver)
In place of interdepartmental envelopes, you may also use special preaddressed envelopes provided by the campus department with which you’re corresponding.
Do not use campus mail to correspond with other students, even those living in other WSU residence halls. Doing so violates federal laws.
