Reflecting on 2021

Here we are, at the end of another year, and we wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2021. What began in January as hope for things to return to “normal” melted into months going by without much change on the pandemic front; our office remained open, providing our services to the best of our ability.

Design and Printing Services during COVID

Design and Printing Services has been fortunate enough to stay operational during this time of COVID. Many of our staff have been working from home since mid-March, and while they are still working remotely, our production personnel are continuing to report to the Cooper Publications Building to keep the equipment running.

So you want to send an HTML email?

While we believe print still holds a very real place in the realm of communication, we know digital forms also play their role. Design and Printing Services designs, tests, and sends HTML emails, and today we want to share that process with you.

Project Examples

Exploring WSU Extension publications

With offices located in every county in the state of Washington, WSU Extension not only physically impacts Washingtonian lives, they are also able to provide resources to people beyond the state’s borders thanks to their publications.

A look at the WSU photo calendar

The photo calendar is an annual tradition across the WSU system. Started by Design and Printing Services in 1996, these calendars feature brightly colored images and have even become a collectible item to some.

Utilizing branded items to enhance custom mailers

With the continuation of physical distancing and event limitations into the fall, the Office of the President had to reconsider how they welcome and connect with new faculty. Instead of being able to meet at the usual in-person event, the office needed to find a way to still make the connection between the president and first lady and these new faculty members as meaningful as possible.

Storefront

The new DPS catalog

The Design and Printing Services (DPS) storefront is officially open! While we’re currently going through a soft launch of the new system, it is available for you to browse and use. Everything is consolidated into one space, making your ordering process easier than ever before! It is truly a one-stop shopping experience.

How to: Ordering WSU business cards

It’s been hinted at a couple of times now, but one of the new features Design and Printing Services (DPS) is excited to roll out with the upcoming storefront is the templated business card! The software you will be able to start using this summer allows you to take care of all of your printing needs in one place.

Diving into My Account

Last month’s blog post was the first in a series talking about the future of Design and Printing Services (DPS). This month, we’re going to show you a deeper look at the customer space you will have access to once the new online storefront is live.

Brand

WSU’s new brand

Washington State University began rolling out its new brand this month, a process that has taken nearly two years. While there are some things that are familiar about the new brand, the overall look and feel has received an update to reflect what the university wants to represent across the system, the state, and the world.

Large Format

Our large format capabilities

Over the years, Design and Printing Services (DPS) has worked hard to bring large format printing to Washington State University. Not only are we able to produce everyday materials like research posters and event banners, but we also can do more customized projects like coloring walls and window decals.

Mailing Services

What you need to know about Pullman campus mail for fall 2020

Mailing Services, who works out of the Cooper Publications Building, had to make some adjustments in order to keep providing their services when the work from home order began in March. With faculty and staff still being encouraged to work from home when possible, here’s what you need to know about keeping your mail flowing into and out of the Pullman campus for the fall semester.
